Carbon films with a thickness of 15-25nm with no Formvar used during manufacturing. Completely free of Formvar. Carbon films are thin and highly transparent to electrons. They exhibit very fine grain and minimal interference with specimen structure. Films are ready to use upon receipt. The pure carbon films tend to be more delicate than support films with a Formvar backing and require more delicate handling during specimen preparation.

C-flat is an ultra-flat, holey carbon-coated support grid for transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Unlike competing holey carbon films, C-flat is manufactured without plastics, so it is clean upon arrival and the user has no residue to contend with. Made with patent pending technology, C-flat provides an ultra-flat surface that results in better particle dispersion and more uniform ice thickness. Patterning is done using deep-UV projection lithography, ensuring the most accurate and consistent hole shapes and sizes down to submicron features. The precise methods by which C-flat is manufactured elminate artifacts such as excess carbon and edges around holes. C-flat holey carbon grids provide the ideal specimen support to achieve high resolution data in making them an ideal choice for cryo single particle analysis, cryo tomography and automated TEM analysis. Graphene Oxide (GO) support film is a super thin (<1nm), naturally hydrophilic layer placed over the support film on grids. Pre-treatment of GO Support Films is unnecessary - by default, the hydrophilic surface spreads particles evenly across the grid. A hydrophobic surface can be achieved by heating in the air.
It works well with holey carbon, lacey carbon, and Quantifoil grid types, effectively spanning the gaps. It is less expensive than graphene to produce due to complexity of graphene manufacturing and has a better background contrast than graphene resulting in higher resolution. Nearly transparent in electron beam and barely visible under optical microscopes. Regular batch checking ensures correct coverage of monomers.
Note: plasma cleaning or glow discharge will damage the support film.

The diamond-shaped grid compartments are designed to minimize awkward wrist or hand movements. The depth of the holes restricts grid movement when transported. EMS Mica Sheets offer a clean surface for EM applications, carbon filming and particle spraying, as well as for AFM applications. There are two types of mica: muscovite and phlogopite. Generally, one differs from the other by color (Muscovite is Ruby, Green or White; Phlogopite is Amber, Yellow, or Silver). The maximum operating temperature for Muscovite is about 500-600 degree C and for Phlogopite is about 800-900 degree C. Our line consists of High Quality Muscovite Mica. This mica peels off very thin up to 0.0001" uniform layers, exposing "virgin" mica upon splitting.
Muscovite, potash type mica, sometimes known as granitic mica, is the best of all micas in dielectric strength, perfection of cleavage, and transparency. It has the chemical formula: H2KAI3(Si04)3. Clear. Hard, of uniform color, nearly flat, free of all stains, foreign inclusion, cracks, and other similar defects.

QUANTIFOIL is a perforated support foil with pre-defined hole size, shape and arrangement that has advantages in electron microscopy (EM) or low-energy electron point source (LEEPS) when compared with conventional holey film. QUANTIFOIL with circular holes is used in cryo-electron tomographic reconstruction. The roundness of the holes is advantageous with respect to the formation of an ice layer of constant thickness. A foil with ~1.2 µm circular holes and a spacing of ~1.3 µm between the holes. Smaller holes are designed for magnifications of 50,000x or higher. Grid: Copper. Mesh: 300 .
