Title: Advances in Biomarker Testing for Sepsis and Bacterial Infections

Date: Wednesday, September 13

Time: 1 p.m. ET

Unless otherwise noted, P.A.C.E.™ accreditation will expire six months after the live webinar.

Using Procalcitonin as a Biomarker

Systemic bacterial infections like sepsis and lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI) are often difficult to differentiate from other conditions, which can lead to delays in appropriate treatment or possibly overtreatment. The recent FDA-cleared claim expands procalcitonin (PCT) use to aid clinicians in making antibiotic therapy decisions. This webinar will review case studies that impact antibiotic usage and reduce costs for both patients and healthcare systems.

In this P.A.C.E.™-accredited Fisher HealthCare™ webinar, you will learn how biomarkers like PCT can be used to help guide treatment of systemic bacterial infections and the role that the laboratory plays in helping to direct patient therapy. Register today to see how the recent claim extension of PCT could impact your facility.

This webinar will help you:

  • Identify various biomarkers that are used to assess systemic infections
  • Discuss the recently cleared claim on how PCT can be used by clinicians for antibiotic stewardship
  • Define how PCT provides insight on patient disposition, response to treatment and likelihood of survival
  • Discuss the clinical application of PCT using LRTI and sepsis case studies
