Respiratory Tract Microbiota Detection
Detection of exposure of viral, bacterial, and fungal microbes in the upper and lower respiratory tract is crucial because if undetected and, they could cause serious diseases. Traditional methods of microbiota detection include immunoassays, which have limitations, and culture-based methods that are easily contaminated and often overlook the presence of bacteria and fungi. Molecular testing is an alternative option, but it is expensive and lacks flexibility. Also, these methods focus primarily on detection of either viruses or bacteria, but not both.
With Applied Biosystems™ OpenArray™ and TaqMan® testing solutions, you get superior microbiota detection that includes coverage of 42 verified pathogen targets or customizable options. When processed through Applied Biosystems™ QuantStudio™ Real-Time PCR Systems, the sensitive, flexible-content, syndromic panels enable reliable results. OpenArray and TaqMan Array Card technology is also cost effective and works with multiple sample types.
