Serves as a reservoir for several lipid messengers. Lecithin, MP Biomedicals is the major membrane phospholipid in eukaryotic cells. It is the major structural phospholipid in the brain, comprising approx. 15% of the total lipid and is primarily localized

Lecithin is used for preparation of vesicle suspensions commonly called liposomes or as monolayers. It is the source of the bioactive lipids lysophosphatidylcholine, phosphatidic acid, diacylglycerol, lysophosphatidylcholine, plateletactivating factor, and arachidonic acid.
