  • Bacterial cells are transformed to express the green fluorescent protein (GFP)
  • Transformed cells are then grown and the GFP is purified by column chromatography
  • The purity of the protein fractions are analyzed by SDS polyacrylamide electrophoresis

 

Experiment times:

  • Module I: Transformation, 45 minutes
  • Module II: Isolation of GFP, 45 minutes
  • Module III: Purification of GFP by Chromatography, 45 minutes
  • Module IV: Analysis by GFP by Denaturing SDS Gel Electrophoresis, one hour
