μa-D-Lactose monohydrate, ACS, CAS # 64044-51-5, is the crystalline form of D-Lactose, which is the major sugar found in milk.

It is also heavily used in the pharmaceutical industry as a pill filler. They are capable of fermenting lactose for ethanol production.
