Stay Informed, Stay Safe

Slips, trips, and falls can lead to serious injuries and lost time in the workplace. As the second leading cause of accidental death in the United States, they’re incidents both employers and employees want to avoid. Make sure you have the right products to help you and your workers prevent slips, trips, and falls, and to respond when they do occur. Source: U.S. Department of Labor

Slips

  • Cause: Wet floors, loose mats, and slippery flooring
  • Solution: Clean spills immediately or clearly mark the location of the spill with a wet floor sign, install secure floor mats, select appropriate footwear, and set up good housekeeping standards

Trips

  • Cause: Cluttered walkways, poor lighting, and uneven walking surfaces
  • Solution: Keep walkways clear, cover cables and cords, select footwear that fits properly, make sure work areas are well lit, and ensure even walking surfaces

Falls

  • Cause: Elevated walkways or work platforms, wet floors, and cluttered aisles
  • Solution: Remind workers to pay attention to their surroundings, walk at an appropriate pace, and be prepared with the right equipment
