Making an Accurate Diagnosis

Vaginitis is one of the most common gynecologic disorders seen in primary care. It accounts for 10 million office visits and up to 7 percent of visits made to gynecologists. Although generally not regarded as a serious condition, it nevertheless has significant consequences in terms of pain and discomfort, days lost from work and school, sexual function, and altered self-esteem. In addition, more than $1 billion a year is spent on OTC medications and physician visits for this diagnosis.

This Fisher HealthCare PACE- and CERP-accredited webinar will focus on key causes and effects of vaginitis along with differentiating normal versus abnormal specimens, challenges in diagnosis, and best-practice recommendations.

Learning Objectives

Following this webinar, participants should be able to:

  • Generate a differential diagnosis of the patient presenting with a vaginal discharge
  • Utilize the office laboratory in diagnosing vaginitis
  • Effectively manage the three most common causes of vaginitis
