Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) is used for various biochemical applications including ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay), high content screenining assays, western blotting, FACS Buffer and immunohistochemistry. BSA as a blocking reagent is particularly useful with casein-sensitive antibodies, such as phospho-specific antibodies. Also used as a nutrient in cell and microbial culture. In restriction digests, BSA is used to stabilize some enzymes during digestion of DNA and to prevent adhesion of the enzyme to reaction tubes and other vessels. Bovine Serum Albumin can also be used to determine the quantity of other proteins, by comparing an unknown quantity of protein to known amounts of BSA.
35% in DPBS, sterile-filtered, BioXtra, suitable for cell culture, Synonym: Albumin solution from bovine serum, BSA solution

The System Without Serum and With CultureBoost – All-in-one cell culture kit (minus serum) to plate, culture, passage, and freeze cells. Medium requires addition of 5-20% serum (not included) based on user’s experiment. This kit includes 2x500mL Medium formulated without serum (4Z3-500), 2x5mL CultureBoost animal-derived growth supplement to complete medium, 1x100mL Attachment Factor – specialized 5-second coating solution for healthy cell attachment, 1x50mL Cell Freezing Medium – Cell Systems optimized media that provides a beneficial environment for the freeze/thaw cycle and minimizes cellular damage, and 1 set 100mL Passage Reagent Group (PRG) to release cells from culture for subculture/freezing and which contains 3 parts: 1x100mL PRG-1 (EDTA-dPBS Solution), 1x100mL PRG-2 (Trypsin/EDTA-dPBS Solution) & 1x100mL PRG-3 (Trypsin Inhibitor-dPBS Solution). PRG-1 prepares for PRG-2, which contains highly purified trypsin. PRG-3 inhibits the protease in PRG-2 & stabilizes cell membranes.
