Sodium taurocholate hydrate (CAS # 145-42-6) is a bile acid and detergent used in molecular biology for protein solubilization.

Sodium taurocholate is a bile acid having detergent capabilities; natural surfactant. It is used for solubilization of protein. In the preparation of digestive enzymes, it is used as an emulsifier.
