Description

The Mopec MERC System™ was developed working closely with military, federal and state agencies, and private firms to address the need for cadaver cooling during a natural or man-made disaster resulting in mass fatalities. The Mopec MERC System™ is the first direct contact cooling system using liquid cooling technology to store human remains, and is the only human remains recovery system that is completely portable, scalable and interoperable. The Mopec MERC System™ is one of the most efficient human remains cooling solutions on the market, and in many cases eliminates the need for large, stationary coolers, or refrigeration units.

Temporary Body Storage Beyond Capacity

The portability and scalability of the MERC System™ make it the ideal solution where physical space or budgetary constraints require an alternative to traditional morgue refrigeration. The TCS Series 3 unit provides the ability to increase cooling capacity by 1-8 bodies within minutes. With the direct contact cooling method, the MERC System can bring down the core temperature of the cadaver much quicker than the most air-driven cooling systems. It is completely portable and can be used to turn any room into a morgue.

Mobile Morgue System

Previously, the only equipment available to solve the issue of mass fatality cold storage was oversized walk-in refrigerators or refrigerated tractor trailers. While both are functional solutions, they have drawbacks when responding to any mass fatality incident. Local morgues, hospitals, and funeral homes can quickly reach capacity in the midst of disaster relief. Preparedness for an emergency is critical to ensure that a community can respond quickly with all of the resources needed. The Mopec MERC System™ was developed as a portable unit, a mobile morgue, and can be moved to the location of any event and quickly deployed in a warehouse, gym, tent, parking lot, or roadway. It is the only portable morgue system available that does not use cold air to provide cooling for human remains. Instead, the Mopec MERC System™ uses patented liquid cooling technology and specially designed cooling pads. Mopec MERC Systems are low maintenance and can be fully operational in less than 15 minutes, providing cooling for up to 48 bodies.

How it Works

The patented Mopec MERC System™ is a liquid-based cooling system, chilling the liquid down to an operator set temperature. The liquid is then transferred through a system manifold and out to the cooling pad. The liquid removes the heat from the body and returns the heated fluid to the system to be re-chilled and then is continually recirculated.
