TaqMan^® Mutation Detection Assay types:

• Mutant allele assay–detects specific or multiple mutant alleles. The assay name has the format: gene symbol_COSMIC ID_mu (e.g. KRAS_517_mu).
• Gene reference assay–detects a mutation-free region of the gene within which the target mutations reside. The assay name has the format: gene symbol_rf (e.g. KRAS_rf).
• Wild type allele assay–detects a wild type allele. The assay name has the format: gene symbol_COSMIC ID_wt (e.g. KRAS_517_wt).

Note: Mutation detection experiments require running a mutant allele assay(s) and corresponding gene reference assay for a given sample. For a subset of the mutant allele assays, corresponding wild type allele assays are available that can be used instead of a gene reference assay.
